    Harley tank ID?

    Yello, I have set of Hardley Ableson tanks.
    Can anyone give a year and possible value for them please? think late seventies or early eighties, cheers

    They look very similar to those on my '91 Softail (although I am far from being an expert). Try looking on Trade Me for similar ones for a value.

    Cheers, I thought they might be pre-Evo tanks as I bought them in 91-92

    they look aftermarket,the reason I say that is the gas cap are the screw in type on the evos but in saying that I have some just like them so could be early shovel how much do you want for them.

    Told you I was no expert Yes, my softail has screw in petrol caps! Now that you mention it, they are just like the custom aftermarket tanks on my FJ chop back in the UK, even with the same type of petrol cap housing. That'll teach me to look properly next time !

    they are 3 1/2 gal shovel tanks

    they won't fit a softail without changing the mounts

    market is effectively limited to shovelheads and custom bikes

    worth what ever you can get for them, probably around half the cost of new aftermarket tanks would be a good place to start
