On Saturday morning we'll meet at BP Geyser at the southern end of Fenton Street (the wide street with all the motels on it) at 8am, ready to depart before 8.15. From there we'll just be following the highway to Minginui (SH5 to Rainbow Mountain, then SH 38 from there).

...& WTF is with the weather forecast? Mainly Fine? Where's the Madness in that? We need snow! Sleet! Gales! Weather bombs!

We might get some ice though

- the warm team will need to take care on the tarmac on the way in, particularly the last twisty section between Murupara & Te Whaiti.

Hi Clint- How technical is the cool team off road section, I've got moderate off road skill and I'll be riding a dr650 (with MT21's). I'm picking up the DR on Friday so I'll be getting used to the change from the TTR250. Pretty keen to have a crack, but not so keen on holding up anyone.

You should be ok. It's not hell technical, easy trail ride sorta stuff, a DR on MT21's will be fine, it's more the 1150GS on road tyres with a n00b pilot kinda thing that I don't want in there.

Cheers, see you at the pub friday, I was going to camp out somewhere but I've decided to dig deep and pay the 25$ for the bunkhouse. Gotta start saving $$ for the DR suspension upgrade....
