I think you should buy a BMW F650CS. It may be totally inappropriate for you but hey, I've got one for sale and I'd like to get rid of it!

Good luck in finding THE right bike!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

I saw it the other day, they did a good job of fixing all the crash damage. Must be new plastics all round or something.

Didn't have the Givi luggage bracket on it though. Did you take that off yourself, or was it mangled beyond repair?
We're all fucked. I'm fucked. You're fucked. The whole department is fucked. It's the biggest cock-up ever. We're all completely fucked.

Well you DIDn't see the damage... so what can you say about it?

The plastic was marked by gravel, apart from the plastic there was no damage to the bike it self. The Panniers took all the sliding / damage for side. And I took off the luggate rack to sell.

    hmmm

you sound like me before I got my bike..had all sorts of ideas, but they all disappeared once I took a few test rides!
Some kind fellow KB pointed out to me (not in so many words) that logic has no place when deciding what bike to ride.....it all comes down to the "I JUST WANT ONE....NOW!!!" factor after a few rides....
    Or maybe i'm wrong...who knows?

    Reviews are great.

Hi Dude, I know exactly where you're coming from. I've sold my bike and given up motorcycling three times in the past two years - I've now given up selling my bikes, I'll always have to own one! It's who I am.

I also considered a VTR1000 when buying my bike, I read magazine after magazine with reviews on the VTR vs allsorts of other bikes. All I learnt from doing this was how impressive the SV1000S was. When I heard the price of a brand new SV I said "yes please!"

Anyway, be sure to take some time out in the magazine shops and read up, I guess you won't be buying 2005, more like 2-3 years old. So heres a link to Britans Bike magazine review about two years old. Read this and then test ride the works. That way you can decide on first hand experience.
Hope this helps. I have three very comprehensive reviews that had the SV up against a 2003 Aprilia, Daytona 955i and a half dozen other 1000's. The SV always came out on top as the best all round bike.

    And, I'm loving my SV...

Hey guys if you are considering the SV650 - may I also point out the TRX 850??

Lovely bikes I'm told.... around a grand or two less than an SV and on paper at least a faster bike.

By the way - has anybody ridden both?? How do they compare??
