    Coro Loop - clockwise/anticlockwise?

Which direction for maximum joy, and minimum hazards? Does it matter?

I wouldn't have thought you'd need to go that far to find a good road to ride anyway..

I find up and then down works best, keep going till you run out of fuel, and lubricant..i mean oil.

Minimum hazards? just don't try to give yourself a frosty one

And it doesn't matter everybody has their own style, be who you want to be..

Last Sunday we did it clockwise, 100% satisfaction guarantee

    http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&so...44946&t=p&z=12

the road after thames can be a bit wet in the shadow and you might find the odd fallen tree brunch. from "C" it rises and it's all dry - be careful with "D" it's somehow deceiving... after "I" there will be some tight corners as well as after "N".

    good fun!

I DON'T ... and the few times I DID the loop ... I never regarded it as anything special ...

BUT the Haast Pass is only an hour away ... as is the Crown range ... and the Lindis pass ... and the Glenorchy road ... and the Pigroot ... and ....

edit: so basically the road from Coromandel to Thames is just fill-in ho-hum?

Yeah and watch for truckers, campervans, falcon and commodore drivers, and idiot bikers coming the other way on the wrong side of the road in the narrow bits.

Nice enough scenery though if it's high tide and you like still water.

Good. Thanks man! Oddly, I've never ridden this road, so if I'm not flying this weekend we'll go beat the coro loop to death.

It's no fun crossing the centreline - that just REDUCES angle of lean, and why the fuck do that?

I choose not to ride the West coast due to too many cars etc with trailers/boats cutting corners etc.
From Tga side I prefer: Tauranga>Waihi>Whangamata>Tairua> through to Coromandel town....then reversed but all the way through to Kopu> Paeroa> then either through to Okoroirie or back the main route
