Someone at work told me about this yesterday, I hadn't seen this thread or TV3.
Watched TV3 last night (also TV1 had it on as the last item just before 7pm).
We talked to these guys at the Britten meeting March last year, they had a display stand. We bought a couple of their t-shirts.
Kickaha: I didn't realise Glen was involved with them - it gave me a real buzz to see him on the tele!!! Do you think he'll give me his autograph?? It must have been really exciting to have been there.
Good stuff!!!

I wasn't there for the attempt and have had nothing to do with the record attempt apart from going to have the odd look at what they were building and chatting to Phil and Glen about it, although we did fit the tyres for it so does that mean you'll want my autograph to?![]()
Between his real jobs and the record attempt Glen has been doing 80+ hour weeks for the last few months so he'll be happy it's all over and that they can all have a break
Nothing - as long as she's the sheila!!!Originally Posted by TonyB

Got this second hand so could be incorrect but I believe the boys achieved 272kms in their record attempt. The body work windscreen was hard to see thru so was removed. Apparently the side car was all over the road with Glen setting the fastest time. Well done to Phil & Glen and all those involved in the attempt. I heard thay are wanting to go to the salt flats in America somewhere to go faster. Good stuff

Hmm.. I wonder if the drag on the extra wheel extension was pulling it sideways ?
The contents of this post are my opinion and may not be subjected to any form of reality
It means I'm not an authority or a teacher, and may not have any experience so take things with a pinch of salt (a.k.a bullshit) rather than fact
More likely the camber on the road.

By running without the canopy it screwed the areodynamics and changed the loading at 220kmh it started to weave and wouldn't stop, they think that if they were able to either run the canopy or extend the tail they could have solved the problem
The run up wasn't quite long enough as they weren't hitting the first speedtrap pinned in top and were still accelerating as they exited the last timing beacon, but given the condition of the road which felt smooth at 100kmh and very bumpy at 200kmh + they decided once they had the record in the interests of safety they would call it a day

Talked to Glen earlier today and I quote
"I've done some dumb shit in my life but that was the scariest thing I've ever done"
On his first run he couldn't see the revcounter without taking his eyes off the road as he was struggling with it the whole way down the course to keep it going straight, he had it pinned in top but believes he changed up way to early because of how the second run went
On his return run with a shorter run up and the same problems keeping it straight he didn't even use top gear but clocked a faster time
They didn't have the Yoshie ems hooked up and the fuel map was wrong so he said there's more HP to come, but what they really need is to get the canopy sorted and that should fix the stability problem, then they need a longer less bumpy road
