Possibly stolen bike, Yamaha XZ400, Auckland area

A bike turned up at work last week not too sure on the rider as I was not at work but "his bike" misteriously broke down after he filled it.
We have run the plates and it does not come back stolen (that was last weekend things may have changed since then) but if you look at the pictures you will understand my suspisions....
Ignition has been damaged as has the fuel cap, bike seems to be in ok shape leaking some fuel but not too damaged, it does not start either hence why it has been left.

I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

    It's an XZ.

If it is stolen, the stealer would be the real loser.

cheap transport....it has two wheels...i like it!

Good on ya for posting it here - but chances are it belongs to a regular commuter - versus a KB'er bike 'enthusiast' ?

Told the wigs about it yet?

Well done for posting, hope it finds it's rightful home (no not down a cliff!), if not it might be a case for Mr Holmes

Ahhh the XZ400. The only bike that could challenge my MVX for most horrible piece of shit ever built.

    Can I have it?

You guys are mean. So yes it was the worst bike that Yamaha ever made by a long shot & yes it is as attractive as a cold turd smeared down your face & reliable as a teenage crack hooker. & yes it is a piece of shit, the most horrible nasty crap piece of shit bike ever made. And yes the ignitions of that era yam fell to bits so the keys fell out & you were left stuck somewhere with no keys & an empty tank so had to jimmy the tank cap.

Ahh fuck it I can't restrain myself.

Burn it Burn it. Do the world & the owner a favour. Better off without it. Worse than an ST1300 & possibly even worse than, oh hold on, it is an XZ400. . .ok slightly worse than an XZ550.

We had the plates run again the story is....
plates match the bike no reg since feb the owner of the bike is unknown there is no record for it, cops said just ring the council to come remove it

I wouldn't personally own one either this one is a pile of scrap metal, but can talk to the manager about it if someone wants it and can pick it up I'm sure it wont be illegal or theft

This might be a silly question, but what happened to the guy that brought it in to you? Did he say he wasn't coming back for it?

I'm too ashamed to go and pick it up. First I lost my keys, then i put diesel in it and broke it.

Now people think I'm a theif, when really I'm just stupid.
