Little red cans on bikes. I carried a 10L on the drz in the 2009 ride. Make your problem everyone elses if the route is good. Hell, even the guzzling AT will be parched at 280km of variable riding. Sounds like a hell of an adventure.

There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
Nobody knows what human life is, why we come, why we go,
so why then do I know, I will see you in far off places?

Fuel?? I'll probably have to fill up once.......![]()
You could run an auction for that spare bed Skinny - the Gladstone is now fully booked.
For others wanting Pub digs, the Fairlie Hotel is close to the Gladstone & isn't on the accomodation list.
Details here: http://www.mtcooknz.com/mackenzie/pr...=fairlie-hotel
I've booked at Pinewood Motels, the place comes highly recommended, plenty of parking, nice and comfortable motel. With 3 of us to a 2bedroom motel, its only $43pp. Still had vacancies as of Mon 24th Oct

lol, because I have a big tank because I have an adventurised bike I'd like to see those lucky bistards enjoying them selves on cool little enduro weapons that haven't upgraded their tanks suffer and have to pack fuel too.
Actually I'm thinking I'll be carrying a little bottle myself as I'm not sure how thirsty the TA will be two up under DB1K conditions... or even if it's a good idea to try it two up, but then at least I have the room for a small bottle.
Accomidation, I have secured myself and J a room at the Gladstone Friday and at the 'other' Campground in Alex... the Alex Tourist Park this time for Saturday night.
Still thinking about Sunday night though I seem to remember thinking staying in Fairlie again was a good idea.

A couple of options for extending range
Large tank - $300-$650 (Just Gas Tanks or Safari Tanks)
Fuel bladder - US$129-US$144 (Just Gas Tanks)
Rotopax Fuel Packs US$49 upwards (Rotopax)
The mates that are joining me on KTMs and haven't ridden a DB1K before are all setting their bikes up with long range tanks, it will be an investment worthwhile and will serve them well for future rides
Crikey, luggin 10 litres of fuel extra, that's gotta be worth a few beers at the pub for sure
Gonna do it....Gonna do it on the Husqvarna, plank seat and all the trimmings....
Registered as well. If this is the only ride I do this January, it will be this....Most Definitely....
I have two bladders available, fuel that is.....from liquid containments. I can bring these down as well. One holds approx 4-5 litres, the other is 10-12 litres depending on how much you fill them...allowing for vapour expansion etc in the heat. Let me know if anyone wants one to use....will help with the range factor if you are a bit short. I ain't tankerin' any.....
Welcome to share because I have a huge tank!![]()
