I'm taking off on Thursday heading down the west coast. I'm hoping to stay at Franz josef or haast then down & up to Fairlie. I should see some of the country before i even get started the Dusty. My butt will be a bit sore i'm sure.

Don't worry about the advancing years Aslan - there are quite a few 'youngsters' that have the same technique.

It's all on the DB1K page, but for those who struggle with these things..... I make it 274 for the main route and 290 for the challenges.

I have mine taped to my tank. Don't want a repeat of last year (and come to think of it the SBC the year before) if at all possible.

Yep, that's what I read it as and that biggest gap is the Lawerance to Omarama bit unless you go off route to get it. I'm carting 4 liters just in case but may still go off route to Omakau again for lunch on Sunday though as far as I know I won't be able to gas up there hence packing my can.
There are other big gaps between stations but that is the biggest.

Hi Howie - be delighted to journey along with you Padmei, Skinny Birdman, TA and anyone else who finds the main course sufficiently challenging and rewarding. By doing the Awakino last year - I and a number of others missed out a whole lot of good bits on the Saturday

    Ciao Aslan
