There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Update - Joshs 250 with Dad - also dropped Dad (Jeff) just before Kurow, Bikes Ok, but his shoulder and knee took a knock so they limped back to Fairlie, by chance I swung past the Gladstone on the way home (just in case!) and caught them thereSo a lift with me back to Rollleston via a friendly Physio for a quick saturday night assessment and he's all good - nothing broken just badly whacked.

The DB1K is a great event to catch up with riders you seldom see, and meet a new bunch of likeminded people, it is one of the fun aspects of the event. This year was no different, it was great to meet new riders and put faces to KB names, I really enjoyed meeting a lot of riders from the North Island for the first time. Grant was one of those I hadn’t yet met and he completely blew me away with his generosity and dedicated willingness to help when dad took a spill and we were in a prick of a position getting bikes/gear/us back home and get his shoulder and knee looked at. You are truly a great bloke Grant, it was fantastic to meet you and I’m looking forward to catching up with you for a ride soon (the beers will be on me!!)
Down but not out… The spill was a real shame, it was the kickoff to a 3 & 1/2 week father/son South Island ADV tour we had planned for quite some time, but, with some recovery time to address we will simply restart the ride when the healing is done and he is fighting fit and dangerous!
All done and dusted. A great ride!!![]()
