So you broke your collar bone on Friday and still continued to go on to ride the DB and up to home over the next three days.

So you rode the entire event with a busted collar bone/clavical? There's my vote for the DB1K 2012 Hard Man award.

And no nursey to take care of you either.

Bummer. In case you haven't done a collar bone before and didn't get good advice from the docs (as I didn't many years ago), try to keep the arm moving to prevent muscles seizing up. Can be very painful if you don't use it for a few days and everything seizes up. Also watch how the bone heals if it wasn't set in place. I have a permanently bent left clavicle because the losers at Tokoroa hospital didn't see fit to set the bone. Just sent me home with arm in a sling. 30 years ago so maybe medical things have improved since.

thanks - sound advice - regret mine's just in a sling - they chose not to operate / plate prolly cause i'm 64. Doc said on entering the cubicle - seeing my DOB on the paper work he expected a frail old man and was pleasantly surprised - made my day

Don't really think anyone here that matters actually sees you in that light... was definitely joking about the straight jacket.

Mine was just slinged too (trail biking two ruts at a time then none). Would have to be pretty messed up for them to operate with all the extra risk that involves.

Crikey, you tough bugger. That's made your DB an even greater achievement.
And you got stuck under ya bike in a blizzard. No wonder you needed those pain killers (he was into mine as well).

Hell, that is hard core. I'm amazed you could use it under the circumstances. I would have picked an avulsion injury rather than a # given your range of movement. You must be a tough old coot for sure. Shows you can never can tell without an xray. If its any consolation it is rare to operate from what I've seen. Hope you are feeling better soon and are up for it again next year.
