You have nothing to worry about you were using E10's last time and I read indications you will be using them again next time. They may not be big knobs but they are still knobs... in the same class as the TKC80 if I understand correctly. Give you half a chance more than a slick and supposed to suite the big bike quite well. All here/say of course.

aye I think mitas are making tubbless Eo9's as well & will go back to them after the E10's are worn out as I'm fitting the new Eo7's when they get here for road & summer use

the Vids you put up : will be a big help to those that have not done a
Db1k before & those that have will know that having shitty tyre's just don't cut it with anyone

    Just signed up, again!
Thinking of having a crack at the 24hour ride as it's been a couple of years since the last, will make a firm decision closer to the time.
For those interested I will be organising access thru Orari Gorge Station on the Friday for those keen on getting a little bit dirty on the way from Christchurch to Fairlie, I believe the koha from last year was $10pp.
I'll create a link closer to the time so I can collect some numbers for search and rescue purposes!
Don't procrastinate about this ride guys, it's time to start building up the brownie points with the wife and work, the DB1K is the ride of the year, not to be missed.
You North Islanders, if you haven't done the South Island dirt roads yet, now is the time!
    See you there, cheers Matt

Sounds a bit ambitous for me and the DRZ seat . Have booked ferry crossing for the Wednesday afternoon and plan to spend 2 days getting to fairlie.

I did buy a ferry ticket that could be easily changed though

Hi I'm interested in riding South with others - usually go down through the Rainbow or Molesworth and around the Lake Lyndon summer road to Methven ish

Also - given my performance last year on the day one Challenge Section - Awakino Ski Field- had to be helped to pick my DR up 5 times by Rogson - I think I'd better skip the Challenge Sections this year - I will be 64 after all

Once again getting fired up for this year. Decided to make life difficult by setting up a different bike instead of the trusty DR. (Just in case the challenge section beckons...). Look forward to catching up again guys. Just wouldn't be the same without the DBK kicking off the New Year!

Cool, hope to tag along this year if you dont mind a slow old fart slowing y'all down.
Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!
