Road rims as motard?

As title says what roadbike rims fit easily to a motard YZF450

I'm not aware of any OEM rims that are a straight fit, I'm sure that some Yamaha rims would fit maybe with a bit of machining. I guess someone else may know....

Rear rim is a tad narrow, but it's a bloody good price while they have them.

You didn't mention what your budget was for rims, which may help narrow options down?

That's a good price. 4.25 is perfect for a 160/60x17 tyre.

you can buy a Motard kit from yamaha for these.

You can get Excel motard rims cheaper than that.

160/60 is too fat for a 4.25 rim.

And the thing is Im not motarding all the time mainly dirt bike so im setting it up so itl be a easy conversion, back and fourth so dont want to spend heaps on motard rims if im only going to use them half a dozen times a year

excel rims will be bloody expensive mate.
If you are only looking then just keep an eye on topedo 7 as they have specials at $700 every now and again.

As for road rims, cbr 250 will fit your front axle fine, mark from F&D just sold a set a couple of weeks ago super cheap on trade me.

In saying that, the road rims are a pain in the ass cos you need to machine up spacers, change bearings and the try line up the brakes

Best to go with actual motard rims and save a whole heap of hassle.

4.25 does work with a 160 but isnt the best and will leave you with big chicken strips

Excel rims and Talon hubs/spokes which are the trick setup are available through Jimmy at Performance Factory (06-7566117/021-1464644/performance_factory@yahoo.co.nz) but are definitely dearer than the deal T7 has.
BUT as others have mentioned, the 4.25 rear rim they offer is not ideal. 5 or 5.5 would be better depending on tyre size you want to use/can fit.
By the sounds of it you just want to have a play, so the T7 deal could work for you.

You can certainly buy Excel rims cheaper than what T7 have , but you still have to buy hubs and spokes....

machining does not affect me i can easily do that just working out what roughly some people have used as sprocket carrier width etc,

And I want one which is going to fit a tire perfectly when I do race I go to go my hardest not play around so want something competitve

no worries, 4.25 is fine for 150/60 and 140/70 and there are some really decent tyres in those sizes. bt090 and bt003rs to name a few. i prefer 140/70 to 150/60 on these 4.5 inch excel rims

Nothing wrong with running 4.25-17 rim with 160tyre Have done it in the past and have seen guys ride bloody fast with that combo in road racing,I think in some instances you wont get anything bigger then 4.25 to run in some mx swingarms I know with rmz's you wont.

Also on the topic,I use excell takasago multi fit rims that use the adaptor plates,beware with these rims keep a good eye on all the bolts that hold them together and when asembling these rims together i found that the bolts were a tad to long and were bottoming out and giving the adaptor plates movement,give the bolts aslight trim down and loctite on.Have heard through other people using them having problems etc

ive got some zxr250 rims of a 2008 zxr250 i think they are 4.25 i dont know tho off top of head should squeeze a 150 on them?
