But it is a good idea I reckon. Anything that means one can take the bike instead of the car is OK with me. If I had a big tourer I'd definitely make a bike rack for it. I've seen a pic of a similar but better design where you remove the back wheel as well, makes the whole mess shorter & sit lower.
Besides, its nowhere near as crazy as the guy I saw go past with a surfboard strapped on a rack on the side of his loaded up DR650 in Rotorua a few months backit was almost longer than the bike.

A few months back, on the way to Helensville, I was passed by a guy with a surfboard on his bike. I was doing about 110-ish, and there was quite a stiff breeze blowing, but he didn't seem deterred and gave me a friendly wave as he overtook.Originally Posted by clint640
