That's bloody good.
Been thinking about selling the DR650 in favour of one of those, that really confirms it for me... now if only I had more money for the difference.

Check out my videos on Youtube including... the 2011 Dusty Butt 1K - Awakino Challenge and others.
Given our trip next year that was some cool reading, chur.

Wow....that's a lot of crap on a small bike.![]()
Way Cool...
I'm now starting to think I may not need to upgrade the TTR250- while it 'aint no WR, it is amazingly reliable and pretty damn bulletproof. There is some lady named Lois (google "lois on the loose") she took her TTR250 across africa....makes me think that adventure riding around nz on my TTR250 isn't really that big a stretch after all. Having said all that, I still might trade up and get a DR650....![]()
Looks like an interesting trip! I had a couple of friends that made that trip to the end of the road in South American in 2007..
They said it was a hoot!
The violence happening in Mexico, at the moment, would put me off....![]()

Waaaaay Coooool...the WR is a nice peice of kit for sure, even so I don't think I'd wanna pay too much for his one 2nd hand. But what an epic adventure!
....wherezz that track go
Just finished reading the Bike magazine's Dan Walsh's book "these are the days that must happen to you" So was great to see a few of the pics of the places he wrote about. He did a tar seal trip across the states then down to Buenos Aires on the Pan American. All on a fairly neglected G650.
So the new trip of a lifetime is to head from Vancouver to NY, then to the start of the TAT, cruise down the west coast 'Big Sur' til I get to California then hang out and play in the dunes for a while - Crusty demons style. When I'm bored of that will have to complete run to La Paz, Baja then get on my way down to the South Americas loop.
Of course taking in some Dirttrack, Supercross, outdoor nationals and maybe a Nascar event along the way...
"These are the days that must happen to you" - ? Hmmm, maybe one day when the mortgage is paid, the kids grown up, and I tell the boss to shove it!![]()
It's a bit of a shame living on a bunch of small islands, surrounded by the South Pacific. Makes it difficult to do a truely 'epic' journey without a shit load of logistics and cash.![]()
Yeah it is an incredible expense just getting outa here!
Hey what happened to the last post telling us none of us could do it?![]()

What an awesome report and stunning images. I think the dude's selling himself a bit short about his riding and reporting ability. Anyone that covers 30000miles of that sort of touring in that timeframe must ride alright if they survive.
Pretty inspiring.
