sneaky you just managed to put in a third, relevant, question. Guess StoneY's poll now needs 3 questions

    BTW 1 over 600 and rego'd

Also, I thought this was not yet in effect?
I asked the minister about it. 90% of unpaid fines are traffic fines, they simply don't get paid. So after consultation with the AA, he went for demerits. From 1 May apparently.

It was not consultation with the AA that led to this, in fact I have seen documents showing that to be completely non factual
Will advise you on this thread when the show is going to air so you can judge for yourself

Edit: fact is it was Police who suggested demerits as a possible deterrent....

Whatever the consultation the point is that increased demerits answers the critics who see speed enforcement as only revenue gathering.

Frankly I don't like either option and would rather see a higher speed limit.

It may have been the police who suggested it.

But AA were consulted and supported it.

I have a letter from the Minister saying

"One of the innovations contained in the regulations related to demerit points for vehicle licensing offences, and my officials consulted the automobile association on that issue as the principle broad based motoring organisation. The AA was comfortable with the changes noting that it had submitted recently on transport legislation in support of a greater emphasis on demerit points"

Yeah, it looks like my OIA gives different reasons to yours, which is unsurprising. I have some others which contradict themselves as well, which I intend using at a later time when I sense an opportunity lol.

3 bikes all regoed. Two over 600, one under. Won't be renewing them all next time around. Will just choose one to ride for three months and put the rest on hold.

    Look at my other thread.

I have OIA answers that show if we don't exercise the right to opt out of our details being available on the motor vehicle register, and we don't tell them we want opt out to mean opt out, then Wilson Parking, Freds Auto Mart, Veda, Bills finance company, and the fellow that wants your Ducatti or a fight with your bad driving girl friend will get your personal details handed to them on a plate.

If you do nothing else tonight, opt out :

    https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transa...ess/entry.aspx

and email them and let them know you want opt out to mean my personal information is not to be sold, shared, or divulged. info@nzta.govt.nz
