Just been crashed into but I have no WOF or rego - what do I do?

Hi, someone crashed into me about an hour ago. I was at a stop sign and they cut the corner and went straight into me. Fortunately I'm ok, but the forks on the scooter are bent - I'm not sure about the frame. The problem is that scooter's rego was on hold and no WOF ( the scooter was off the road - I was just taking it around the block to turn the engine over).
Should I try to sort it out directly with the person involved or seek insurance through their company?
Note: I do not have insurance. Their car is fine. They seem like alright people.

    Any ideas welcome.

To get any money from their insurance company you'll need to involve the police, or at the very least have them sign something admitting liability. It won't matter that your scooter is not registered or wofed as far as their insurance having to fix your bike.

As per the other thread no involve their insurance.

The lack of wof or rego is immaterial to the accident in this case as far as NZ insurance law is concerned.

    What's your address?
I'll post you the $350 worth of tickets for your no WOF or Reg, saves bothering to inform the copss about your crash.

And I await with bated breath to see how 'nice' these peole that crashed into yuou really are when t comes to their insurance claim to pay for the damage to your scoot.

(If they were really nice they woudn't be driving - seeing as how they can't see your scooter as they cut a corner, bugger sharing the roads with 'tards like that)

If the scooter is worth 2k or so, I'd happily take your cunting tickets yet get the bike repaired/replaced. Big nice helpful policeman.

Playing Devils Advocate for a minute: Curious to how having no WOF and Registration and being on the road works. If I was driving the car I'd be taking the view that the other vehicle should not have been on the road and from my dealings with insurance companies they like avoiding paying claims. With Rego on hold you can't even say " I didn't realize its run out".
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
