    What should I do?

Purchased a new 2010 Yamaha r6 this week from an auckland dealership. I told them I wanted a black one, and was told that there were no black ones left in the country and that the ones on trademe where just for advertising, however if i pay an extra $500 on top of purchase price, they could get in the black fairings and tank and I would have myself a black bike. I went into the shop and signed up and asked the question "the parts are going to be new factory black yamaha stuff a, because i don't want no painted up bullshit" reply was "yep definately new stuff, dont worry about it well sort it out". So after a 7 day wait I pick it up on the 29/6
and take it home to fit the tail tidy. notice there is a clip missing, get on the phone to him and told to bring it back and they will replace the clip. Done no problem. I then had it out in the sun on friday and noticed the metallic looked real shit on the tank. So I went about dismantling the whole bike today, there's primer overspray all over the inside of the fairings, and a locator is broken. I didn't pay $19000 for a new bike with fairings spraypainted by some local fuckwit, I want'd a new bike with new fairings painted by yamaha that looks original, thats gonna hold its price. It now looks as if it's been dropped and repaired. And yes I know that wiping overspray off with some thinners is the simple answer to my issue but WTF. If I were to go and buy a new Ducati would they supply me with some rank painted up shit? I think not. I am thinking of ringing yamaha head office tomorrow, and getting them to sort it. any suggestions. NAME AND SHAME TO COME

For that much money I would demand its right. No question. But try to sort with them before naming because it could have been somebodys honest mistake.

    If that fails, flame time....

Somebody in the front of the shop didnt tell the guys in the back of the shop the full story. Ive been a wrench (not on motorcycles) for 25 years, has happened to me a lot of times. Salesman says one thing, I get a different story from the job card.

No, they did paint paint it, thats the problem. If the salesman had said to me look there is no black ones left, were just going to paint this blue one black, I would have told him to jam it. My understanding was that the extra $500 I was paying was to get the black fairings and tank in from where ever they come from. Now from a resale point of view, it's fucked really. just looks like a crashed and repaired bike.

One thing you could ask for is the blue tank and fairings as you paid for them in the price of the bike.

That's what i expected. I really don't want to give they bike back to them because chances are they will just paint them again and send them back. I trust them as far as I could kick them.

It certainly appears like you have a case there. At the very least you should have a set of spare (blue) fairings + tank, given to you since they "brought in" the black ones...

Shelling out 19k for a new bike means that you should get new everything. A sprayed-up set of fairings tends to indicate it has potentially been dropped.
It will be interesting to find out what dealership this is, and it always comes out... eventually.

That's rude and HAS to be illegal. Quite frankly I'm looking at bikes and may have to travel for the one I want - please advise me in PM which shop I should cross of my list as I would be pretty darn pissed to give any money to a shop who pulled that one.

Outcomes that I'd personally find acceptable:

    1) New fairings. Make sure they are new, get the product tracking details or something..... Install yourself if you are distrustful.
    2) Negotiate a discount that you think makes up for it
    3) Refund, give them the bike back.
