20k is a lot to pay for something that has been monkeyed with. I would certainly be looking for them to make good.
step 1. make appointment with manager
step 2. explain you didnt sign to buy a new bike at 19k with shoddy painted up tank and fairings (nicely)
step 3. tell him what yourself and his salesman agreed on.
step 4.tell him you want what you payed for, and will not accept anything less.
step 5. Any manager facing this should give you what you want without hesitation.
step 6.If he does hesitate, them start using words like consumer affairs, fair go, the ceo of yamaha new zealand etc.
It was the manager I dealt with, he took over the sale once I was approved to tick the balance of it up with YMF. Alarm bells really should have gone off when he said" the only black shocks we can get are second hand, off a press bike thats done about 250ks. I hesitantly agreed to them as it would have looked like shit with gold forks. but they would still be under the 2 year warranty.
Your days of finger-banging ol' Mary Jane Rottencrotch through her pretty pink panties are over!
whats the bet the fairings came of the same press bike and got touched up its hard to see but looking at the photos the inside of those fairings look like the were originally black (correct me if im wrong )and the press bike is now blue and have your forks on it , some photos of the bike would be good , and yes I think you need to go see them and dont take no for an answer , its a pretty strange situation your in especially when buying a new bike
I cant tell the original color of them because they have put a rough coat on the inside but then there is primer and shit over the top of that??? Probably got the apprentice to do it!!
Yeah I didnt expect this sort of bullshit buying new, I purchased a new hiace van last year and toyota treated me like fucking royalty.

Wait a minute - you paid 19K for a new bike that was not assembled to what you purchased.......
I suggest taking it back - perhaps something in the vespa range will suit you.

you should have just got the blue one
Yah was going to say something similar, Do you have all this in writing? a verbal agreement maybe a legal agreement, but you need proof it was made, or they could just do the dirty on you again,
Dont take this wrong,
but for $500 I would have assumed the salesman misunderstood me, as $500 would probably be about the cost to paint my bike flat black, or Chinese plastics, So maybe the salesman misunderstood you? But this seems like a situation where its a two way street..
Exactly the same, maybe you could re-read my original post. It was in fact replying to the guys that were saying you should have ended up with 2 sets of fairings, which of course is not reasonable, nor what you expected.
Why you quoted me in the first place is the mystery.
.... back in green and feeling great ....
What was the reason given that it was going to cost you an extra $500 to change the fairings?...time? Labour?..is the colour black dearer than blue?
They must have been going respray them all along.
You were duped and the Consumers Guarantees act is on your side..
Just mention the words Fair Go.
Have you seen a factory paint job on a black R6?
There is one in CH-CH why couldn't they do a Dealer to Dearler?
