    Broken Bike

the Triumph decided that it would shit the electrics tonight.

    Not sure what happened.

Battery flat, jump started it. Riding home it seemed to be running rough. Got to Takanini straight and the instruments all went dead. Bike backfired and then just stopped running.

Cruised to a safe spot and waited. Sharron was behind me in the car. She called her son and he and the son in law showed up 1 hour later with a trailer.

Got home at 9pm. left Manukau at 4:45pm.

Need to get it to the shop tomorrow as it is my only means of transport.

Not had a lot of luck with this bike. Bugger cos I very much like the ride.

    Triumph Daytona 955i 2003

    Gorgeous bike to ride.

Just seem to have a bit of electric trouble.

2 months agao the ECU locked itself and I had to get it remapped.

Speedo pickup has shit itself. Looks like a magnet has come loose inside the unit on the front hub. Sealed unit. New Triumph part about $400

Now it looks as though the rectifier has packed up or there is a short between the alternator and the rectifier.

Probably done the battery in. Got it on trickle charge overnight to see what happens.

GI Joe has offered me the use of one of his copoious number of bikes. Thanks GI Joe.

I'll give the bike shops a call in the morning to see if someone can have a look and pick up.

Last bike I had that had electric problems turned into a real lemon. Yamaho XJ900. Spat its CDI while I was on the M4.

I hate electrical problems with a vengance.
