This would work with an old style bias-ply car tyre cause they have more of a round cross-section.
Doing it with a modern, low-profile tyre with distinctly different sidewall and carcass construction is just...retarded.
I've watched a video of one in operation, the contact patch on a lean is far bigger than a motorcycle tyre because the tyre shape changes as the weight moves to the edge. Better braking in straight line conditions, cheaper, better mileage etc. I would try one if my bike would take it, you just adapt your ridng style.
are you sure about that? not trying to pick a fight or anything but my understanding was that both the movie bikes (there were a couple of reach I think) were stolen and parted out early in the 70's?
going to do some research on that now. I always liked the Billy bike better than the Captain America bike.

I wonder what the Insurance co would think about it in the event of a claim. Or whether it would be wof legal?
The contact patch might be bigger, but surely it wouldn't have the same gripping characteristics that a purpose made motorbike tyre would. Certainly not if it rolled onto the tread shoulder while cornering.
If the car tyre tread tried to stay flat on the road while cornering, then the tyre would tend to push the bike straight ahead. Remember the three wheeler farmtrikes a few years ago?
Think I'll stick with bike tyres on my bike, and car tyres on my car.

they are popular on rocket3 in the states , big cruisers eat tyres so its a cheaper option ya can get over 30k on a car tyre about 10k or so on metzlers . Not my cup of tea , far to twisty here in NZ .
