    Thumbs up Plasti Dip

    Just came across this awesome product: http://www.plastidip.com/

    Plasti Dip is a multi-purpose air dry, synthetic rubber coating that can be easily applied by spraying, brushing or dipping. Plasti Dip protective coating products resist moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding/slipping, and provides a comfortable, controlled grip. It remains flexible, stretchy and will not become brittle or crack in extreme weather conditions; -30°F to 200°F.

    Seriously thinking about coating my KTM's plastic in it.

    I have used it for dipping things like plier handles, paddock stand hooks and my bead breaker jaws. It seems to be reasonably hardwearing but can be scraped off if required.

    It was easy to apply via dipping but I suspect it will be a bit trickier to spray. However, it is available in a spray can. They are available from a good hardware retailer such as Bunnings or Mitre 10.

    My motard has been done with this stuff, it looks really good. As ninjaboy states, it is hard wearing but can be scraped off with effort.

    hmmmm now that stuff IS interesting...

    The hornet's forks, at the top, are constantly getting a bit of surface rust spots, tried a protective cleaning agent then left it on, which certainly slowed it down, but it's made another comeback.

    Paint the fork legs with that (not in the movement area obviously ) looks like it could sort.

    I'll have to investigate. Cheers

    This could make it difficult to remove the forks from the clamps though.

    Meany years ago...When I was about 17 Iworked for a out fit in auck
    Forkner & Collins on Stodards road.. they made wire products fridge wire trays etc...
    any way they plastic coated them.... In a tank of a plastic powder with air blowing though it..that made it look as if it was boiling..But was COLD... the product was heated in a oven & lowered in to the powder tank... In /out... the powder melted on to it.....SO if you can get the plastic powder theres no reason why
    yer can't do it at home...

    yer can do most things yerself.. I have me own anodizing set up .

    Bunnings usually stocks the cans of dip form in store (most of the basic colours), it was in the Tools section in the East Tamaki branch. I special ordered a can in spray form, hoping to play this weekend...

    Yeah checked out Bunnings and they had no idea, went to Mitre10 Mega petone and they said the could order it in.

    $40 including shiping of trademe.

    $28 + shipping from www.griffiths.co.nz

    $29 from Mitre10 Mega

    gona go order some from Mitre10 tomorrow.

    anyone on here got pics of how your Plasti Dipping turned out?
