    Honda Crossrunner coming to Aus

    Just published on Bikepoint.com.au: http://www.bikepoint.com.au/news/201...ost-here-25461

Combining several bike classes into one, the 782cc V4-powered Honda Crossrunner has been confirmed for a mid-July arrival in Australia, priced at $14,990 (not including on road costs).

The unusual new model is touted as a 'crossover' bike that blends several classes into one, making use of extended front suspension travel for light off-road duties but with roadbike ergonomics and power characteristics.

Honda claims peak power of 100hp (75kW) at 10,000rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9500rpm from its VTEC engine, which should be more than enough shunt to move the bike's 240kg mass relatively rapidly.

    Thumbs down ??????

Looks like a road bike to me

It seems only the Euro`s have any clue about how to build a real adventure bike.

    Suzuki DR650 excepted of course
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Noticing a lot of current bike designs are very front/top loaded in appearance if you can kind of work out what I'm saying. Hunched like a Brahma bull - big shouldered if you will - Ducati Diabloesque.

I wonder if that'll be the design touchstone of this decade

I googled that & it came up with Greek context- is that where "It's all Greek to me" came from?

Noticed that. I wonder if the GS/ Big designer character had a hand in there. In saying that perhaps the Big was ahead of its' time? Design wise not engineering wise that is...

We need to have a NADS rideout.....so I can give the pair of you a cuff round the ears.
That honda thing is a road bike, the Big is a dual purpose bike with style, grace and purpose. And it was ahead of it's time

I thought the BIG was a collection of boxes of parts in the corner of the garage. It's spent more of it's existence in that state than as a working Dual purpose bike.

Looks too squat and upright. Like a road bike for tall people who want to look like they ride with a carrot up their wotsit.

Now I could be really nasty & say most of their bikes are like that but I won't- I'll just infer it.

Design wise it's probably on par with the new Tiger, BMW etc- not making a judgement on it however most new bikes seem to have lots of individual parts of plastics .
I seriously wonder if it's just the style of upright riding that is catering for the older riders wanting an easier ride.shrug
