    Noob biker

    Hey all!!!! Final got a big boy bike , been a scoots rider for the good part of 10 years did my first big ride to wellys in the weekend , up piecock hill and round the hutt and home (palmy) loved it . just need better gear ice cold by the time i got home . Anyway just just a quick note to say hi and is there any sport bike clubs in the area ?

    Yeah can certainly agree with you about right gear for the cold - I'm just finding that out myself.

    Don't know about any clubs, but there is the weekend rides:

    There was this Friday night gatherings while back, not sure if it still runs in winter.

    Nice, I love the paikok hill ride, which way did you go? Also grays rd and the one on the other side (paremata rd i think?) are pretty good.

    just up the hill and down the other side .lol was just chasing my mate , then round the hutt water front and in to wellys . dont know that area for a bar of soap . loved it will be back again , it has a nice flow and it was my first bit of windy stuff

    Welcome to riding bikes Gibbox, the invader is not a bad wee machine, but as usual the Uncle/Nana/Old Fart (select what you feel appropriate) is going to suggest something. Paikak hill is a great hill to ride, but watch out for motorists/regulars. It is not uncommon to find line crossers on some bends. I realise you've ridden scooters before (someone has to ) but on a serious note, I would not recommend 'chasing your mate'... and an intruder will not handle the same as a naked 250 (standard) or a semi sports, full sports. Get a good feel for riding the bike and your abilities before tackling the paekak with any sort of 'spirited riding'....
    Otherwise, enjoy, get some good gear... it's worth every penny spent
