    Car tyres.

Found this picture. The thread being discussed is about fitting car tyres to the bigger cruisers in the states.

I've seen a youtube video of a guy with a goldwing and car rear tire, pops wheelies, scrapes the outriggers (hehe) etc. He swears by it.

There's a guy in Christchurch that has done that, what would insurance say in the event of an accident using a tyre not designed for a bike? is it legal for a WOF?

The car tyre is obviously not going to work as well as a proper motorcycle tyre. But even amongst motorcycle tyres there are lots of options, and we all have to pick one.

Perhaps they like the look of it, and performance and stability are secondary concerns for them.

But hey it saves wear and tear on the side stand, cos its stands up by itself!
Thought for the day: Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything but they're funny when they're pushed down the stairs. Also: Who picks up guide dog shit?

The bike used by hopper in 'easy rider' from way back in the 60's or 70's is on display in a museum in the USA complete with a firestone car type crossply rear tyre . As all the roads over there are straight & merkins can't ride around corners it seems a logical choice

There is still a ''following'' in the states that use car tyres.Perhaps if the riding you do is 600k trips on 8 lane freeways its all good.Fk all use on a blast Whangarei to Kaitaia though.
