Looks like you have the ZZR400 in mind. Consequently I had a look at it last Saturday (hey, the price is right).
I havn't had the time to properly look at it (test ride and etc) but it looked like it had been in storage for quite some time (rust on front break disc, sticky clutch etc). The bike started alright with the choke, right lever bent due to the "earthquake" damage, new paint like described and etc...
But hey don't belive me, I'm no mechanic.
If I was looking I'd probably look at that Kwaka .. but anything under $3,000 is going to need work. So the option is buy something real cheap and spend time and money on getting it ready - or buy the best you can find under $3,000 and hopefully spend less money on it ...
