    Need some paint!

A customer wants an aerosol spray paint to touch up the frame on his 2006 DRZ250.
Its a metallic silver/grey which i believe is a common suzuki frame coulour!!!!
    The paint code is YU8
Not had any joy from paint companies in chch........... has any one got a reference code which NZ paint companies understand or any other solutions.
he says he has tried Suzuki dealer also with no joy.
    Kbers to the rescue.

Take the easiest part to remove that's the correct colour (possibly the subframe or foot peg mount) to SprayStore on St Asaph Street.

CRC Zinc it is a mid shade, matt, grey. Try some on a piece of plate first. Don't know how it'll match a manuafcturers paint used on a frame.

I suggested he take a part into paint shop too........ hes not mechanically minded and not many painted parts on a DRZ that are simple to unbolt for a novice.

He already tried them wih paint code......... it is a dupont code.....they are dupont agents..........but not on the nz system.....so told him no.

think the paint match idea is gonna be the go unless someone has already done the leg work.

Being a motorcycle painter myself i come up aginst this problem all the time in NZ mate.

The colour is called Metallic Flint Grey/Gray.
    Flint Gray/Grey Metallic.
Go to a PPG distributor down there (i think i saw a biggish one when i was down that way a while ago, can't for the life of me remember what it was called but i think it was opposite a Harley dealer in the city) I think that's more confusing than helpfull lol.

Anyway, PPG have (should) motorcycle colour swatches.

This is a list of other bikes that colour is on, and some of them have body parts painted that colour so there WILL be a formula out there for it.

One thing you don't do when finding bike colours is take no for an answer from a paint shop, most of them are just lazy and can't see the benefit of a single spray can.
If they go the extra mile for one spray can then word gets out that that's the place to go for bike colours.

I'll stop my rambling now lol.
Let us know how you get on.

I think there's a PPG dealer over the overbridge on Waltham Road before John Brookes.
