    2008 yzf450 stolen today (12/07/11)

Would appear it was a scam to steal it as the money he put in account turns out is a chq and his ride round the shop turned into a ride up the road and didnt come back for the spare parts his mates took off as well.
took off while i was checking the account.

I'm guessing that if he deposited a cheque, the bank would have him on cctv. Pity your not a millionaire and it wasn't an Aston Martin stolen, you may have had the aid of the NZ Police, helicopter and all..

ok so deal is its a scam they have they bank a stolen chq in your account come and look at bike when your not paying attention they quickly take off and just ride it the whole way home in my case a good long ride from newmarket all the way down the nor-western. Hassle is the money shows in your account as being there its not till you try to shift it around you notice its not available and you'll click its a chq. the girl goes in and banks it for them.

I did. I didn't understand what it was about and who was going to read it where it was.

I was contacted via my trademe add for the gsxr by a guy claiming to be from Hellensville.
He txt me saying he would give me my asking price, wanted to pick up my bike that day and would make a bank deposit straight into my account before meeting me to pick it up. He asked if I could meet him at Westgate.
Sounded a bit odd, guy keen to buy it without seeing, and when I told him that i wasn't willing to give out my bank details to someone I had never spoken to, but that we could meet, go to the local ASB where he could give me the cash, and once change of rego was done, he could take the bike.
After numerous txts back and forwards, I gave him a call. He was insistent that he make the deposit first as he was worried about me taking the cash and then doing a runner (did he think this part through first...I mean, I would have the cash deposited AND still have the bike under his scheme) and that he was having to borrow it from his parents. I told him that he could either get me a bank cheque or bring me cash, that was it...haven't heard from him again.

I am sure he was trying to scam me. Almost went along with it to see what they were up to, but then thought better of getting involved in something dodgy.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I wonder if the local cops would help set up a "sting"?

May sound like fantasy, but a borrowed GPS thing in the bike, a cop ready to go where it goes... or something like that.
