How many of us have had a bike stolen?

Yet another thread today (13/07/11) about a bike thief crashing. As usual there are those kind hearted folks saying don't wish harm on the poor thief.

I suspect the kind hearted have never suffered the hurt of finding your pride and joy, your essential means of transport..gone. Gone because a low life worthless piece of shit decides his wants are all that matters in this world. It's crims total lack of empathy towards others that drives me mad.

So, out of curiousity lets see how many on here have had one or more of their bikes stolen. Include immediate family members bikes taken but not friends and others (may get duplications). I'll include cars as well.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination

It seemed to really increase just before winter time,
but it seemed like the bulk of it was in the North Island.

Voted yes on behalf of Mrs Oakie who had hers flogged about 3 years back. We've even been getting restitution at $5.60 per week for the last nine months.

Had a place in Te Horo beach broken into about 20 years ago. They pinched the stereo, tv, all the cd's and left my Norton Dominator, CB750/4 and TT250 in the garage!

My Range Rover (an elderly classic drain garages dry of petrol no effort - was told to change pumps once as i was draining the one being used) was nicked some years back, when I let the insurance accidently expire. My local panel beater reckoned it was nicked for hauling out cash machines from walls. Oddly enough this happened a week later according to the Dom. Got a phone call from the ex owner a month later saying his mechanic had seen it up the coast driven by a blond chic so I called the police and an hour or so later they called back saying they'd found it and dropped it off at a garage. Was somewhat surprised that they didn't 'pursue their enquiries' further ie take prints or indeed anything.

Had leathers and gear stolen and some clown tried to steal my Norton once. He couldnt get it out so stripped off the bits he needed. This included the 2 nuts up under the exhaust ports which really fucked me off as I didnt notice it and eventually blew a head gasket.

I saw a similar bike with a tank (mine) hastily painted with a spray bomb and the distinctive 'curly N' cap off an earlyier model that was on mine - loo and behold inside the cap was my paint job. Called the cops and they hauled off the bike in a truck and waited for mr muppet to complain - he did BUT had a letter from his mum claiming the tank was on the bike from day one...

Turns out the cunt lived around the corner from me and I'd only just moved flats.... Yeah right.... Anyway - it was 'resolved' without too much effort... I still remember him though......

DR200 nicked in early 90's. Fully insured with State, who wouldn't pay up as it was not garaged at the time it was pilfered I'd even chained it to a lamp post with a damn thick chain

had my XR350R stolen twice during the 80's. Got it back both times too, although a little worse for wear! Cops actually caught someone riding it both times, first idiot for riding it around at night with no taillight (broken after he had flipped the bike), the second was pulled over for speading.

I've had two motorbikes stolen at different times

I had my CB900f stolen when I was an apprentice, I was absolutely GUTTERED! Unless you've had a bike stolen, you probably have no idea how angry/frustrated/sad you can feel. Happened 24 years ago, I think I'm over it now!!!
