Sorry to read this. Someone who will not return home. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
No to take this off course, but those mini choppers should not be allowed on the roads. I realise that they can be rego'd as mopeds, but really they are not safe. They are too low down and cars do not see them. I worked with a guy who was collected by a car on one, also in Penrose.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
Bullshit ... ANY BIKE travelling towards you with the light ON (as required by law)should be able to be seen .... the photo of the car parked in the middle of the road would seem like the speed (of the car) was not an issue. Just didn't give way ... for whatever reason ...
A reminder to all ... having the right of way ... does not mean it will always be given ...
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
...and another family mourns.
My heartfelt wishes to them.
...no more to say.
Arguably it is the time and place. Nothing I said was offensive or inappropriate about this particular case. It always sucks in a massive way when bikers are killed...heaven knows I have lost more than a few mates to bike crashes...but the fact remains, those things should not be able to be used on the roads. I wouldn't be able to drive a go-kart down the motorway...
FJ Rider, I agree with you in that drivers SHOULD see any vehicle approaching them, the fact is that many car drivers struggle to see a full sized bike even if the rider is painted fluro yellow. Riding on the road with something a third of the size, often with insufficient brakes and power down busy roads is just upping the odds.
