After a EQ delayed start to my relationship with a new MTS, I finally got my hands on her last week....and was the weather just grand for the occasion....

I managed to get a small 700km day ride, Chch to Fairlie then over Mckenzie Pass to Burkes pass and into the back of Benmore and a pootle up the Hakataramea valley from the north....and what a bike...I am very impressed....It makes parting with the other Ducs not as painful as I was expecting.

Back in Kz now looking forward to October and the GC....


And as a parting shot....Guess there are not many Ducs that get mentioned in the Adventure Dual Purpose forum

At my age I'd need an electric body suit plus the hand warmers and seat warmer!

Yup nice road bike as well....

It was a good day, although there was the odd shower of rain occasionally

Hand warmers are a treat....first set I have had and were worth while....yup I am not as tough or foolhardy as I once was.

Gear...nothing special, I had my full admiral Spidi suit in the pannier....Boots, long johns, Draggin jeans with knee pads, Icebreaker sweater, medium fleece, A windbreaker jacket sealed around neck waste and sleeve cuffs, and a heavy leather jacket....heated grips seemed to keep body a bit warmer.

yup traction control....great on road but the std "enduro" setting was to invasive on the dirt I felt....I have since learned how to change the setting further in the menu.

ABS...well....this is my first bike with ABS and not soon off the tarmac and I was confidently grabbing a fist full of front brake and slowing down gently....great to have but I am concerned it may be dumbing down my riding skills and wonder how it will affect my braking on a non ABS bike.

That is what it is designed for...admitidly it was working double time/all the time. I have subsequently learnt how to reduce the sensitivity of the traction control in the enduro mode so will try that next time
