    Grrr... Store Opening Hours

Why can't stores that are web savvy place their opening hours on their sites?? Surely I'm not the only one surfing looking, perhaps interested, want to find out more but can't contact them because its the middle of the night...

Motomail, AMPS, and Takanini M/C Wreckers are the ones so far... AMPS has it on their phones when you phone... but I'm on the web... in bed, I don't feel like getting up to make a short phone call...

What prompted this was I was interested in popping into Tak M/C Wreckers, but I have no idea when they are open... if they are open on Sundays... Anybody know by any chance??

Why use phones, when I can secretly find out and pop in unannounced??

Just assume they are closed on Sundays and will be open at 10am monday morning. 9 out of 10 you'll be right.

Now how is that helpful eh??

I can understand wanting weekends for family time etc, fine with that, if they could put their bloody hours on their site. All that effort in details etc, but in contact us there are no store hours...

Motohaus I understand is open 7 days...

Where's Big Dave?? He designs sites and some of the ones mentioned I think. Its his fault!! Not that I'm going to do anything about it...

This annoys me too. It is amazing how badly designed the majority of websites are. Very pretty , and full of oh so awfully clever fancy flash this and shock that. But so often lacking in basic "I need to know this" stuff. Like, yes, WHEN ARE YOU BLURDY WELL OPEN. And , WHERE THE BLURDY HELL ARE YOU - can I have a wee MAP please. Oh, and what PRICE is that wonderful gizmo. Oh , and a SKU number - so when I go into the store and talk to the guy there I can tell him what it is I'm interested in (and he can look it up in the computer , and tell me the price ,- the bit you left of the website, remember) - instead of "Uh , it's on your web site , it's red, no not that one, it's on your web site , uh no that's not it .......... ".

Trouble is , web sites are designed by grahic artists . Who. like all artists , tend to overlook the practical but boring stuff. And who want to cram the whole thing with pretty but useless pictures. Instead of useful words.

I was having just that problem with trying to find the store hours on AMPS site the other day.
The other thing that bugged me was I was listening to mp3s on headphones with the volume on winamp turned down. When the AMPS site loaded, it not only started playing its own music but because it used the main windows volume control, it was loud as.

I too hate it when sites have their own music that over rides what you're listening to. Messy sites, banner ad's, lack of easy to read info usually results in me closing the window and searching elsewhere. I'm not looking to replicate a 'real' shopping experience when I go on-line, just want to find out what I want as quick and as easy as possible. I try to spend as little time searching on the net as possible, haven't got enough time to have it wasted.
