I've been keeping an eye for one for sale on Trademe for a while now and none seem to be coming up! Are they quite rare on the NZ market?

They weren't officially imported to NZ because motorcycling is mostly a male pastime in NZ and most Kiwi males have very small penises and won't be seen dead on a "Girl's Bike" of 600cc or smaller, unless it's a dirt bike and a two stroke.
Ironically Honda imported the Hornet 900 here in large numbers and that was still perceived as a "Girl's Bike", or an "Old Man's" bike.

The 900s were only a couple grand more from new I think, and really only go like any other manufacturers 600 anyway. Fuckin great bikes though, loved doing stupid shit on mine.
Until recently, there was little incentive to have a smaller bike, and some would perceive the 600 to be too slow, not powerful enough etc. The hornet, while seen as an old man's bike (even my boss thought it was an old guy... riding his own hornet) became very popular near the end of it's run, and continues to hold it's value quite well, being extremely reliable etc.
I think they're very thin on the ground full stop, and for me, that wouldn't be attractive, for finding parts etc. Sharry here, has one.
Personally, I think the CB900 is much better, but for smaller or lighter people, yes, the CB600 would appeal. Depending on your budget, the new one is out, and it's a really fun zippy ride, especially for a 600.

Your link doesn't work. Interesting there are so many more 900s. Anyone know the weight difference?
Just get a 900. I've not had any regrets on mine.

Thanks for the weights there. I went for a ride on a 900 at Botany Honda and it was a great bike. Certainly has the versatility I'm looking for. However I have some other big costs coming up in the near future so I decided to get a smaller cheaper bike to tide me over for now and sell it and upgrade to a Hornet in the future.
Still thinking about this. Many reviews I have read have rated the 600 higher than the 900 (not against each other however). Tough call.
