    OP needed a taller soapbox?

But still, despite promises of action, it still doesn't appear as if too many tangibles are being produced by MotoNZ (or the McSAC)

How has any of the following produced a safer rider, anywhere?

I'm just slightly confused. Surely if any group or individual has managed to accumulate funds it is entirely their business how those funds are spent. Or not.

Helen & her henchwomen did more damage than I realised if it is now considered a valid thought process to decide that if someone has money then it is available for use by anybody.

Any monies would have to be spent with consideration to the purposes and goals of said organisation, usually well documented in the constitution of such a group. And yes they can spend it how they see fit as long as it falls within the peramiters of the rules. If they dont follow the rules then they can be held accountable if someone calls them out on it at a meeting.

Is the attendance of these training or skills events mainly from members of the club or orginasition aligned with the event or is there a reasonably large cross-section?

There has been a shift in attitude.
    From motorcycling to money.

I concentrated on riding. Put the rego on hold. And avoided such groups.

The rest is political BS. How many of you need to be told how to ride safely?
If any of you do. Get off the fucking road and stop wasting money.

Fuck knows .. last time I went to a training day it was at Hampton Downs (first time it had been used for bikes) and I just wanted to ride the track .. there was a good cross-section of people there ... I think it was organised by the Hamilton Motorcycle club ..

Why should Ulysses spend their money on providing Riding courses for the multitudes?

Ulysses has invested in improving Motorcycle Safety by training Rider Mentors throughout the country. These mentors are primarily available to Ulysses members, they are generally active members who are frequently on club rides and easily accessible to members, and they are also available to assist any rider (yes, even crazy KB'ers) who want help or guidance.

There is debate over the difference between mentoring and training (which mentors aren't allowed to do???) and there are boundaries beyond which a mentor shouldn't go, but the service is available. KB also has mentors available and I don't know how well either group utilise the services of these volunteers, but they are available.....for free!

As well as mentoring, Ulysses promotes safe riding on most of their rides by controlling the pace with a lead rider as well as having a TEC and stressing to riders to ride at there own pace...and the TEC won't mind how slow that is (at least on the outside anyway). Wgtn Branch have also included things like 'Minimal Brakes' rides, 'Economy Runs' and 'Police Rodeo' riding to promote awareness and improve skills.

The local councils have also climbed on board the Safety Wagon and are providing day courses at free or very cheap rates.

If the mentors or council courses aren't enough for riders, buy a session or two with RideSafe, or a track training session with the like of Pavich or Bernard etc.

BRONZ Wgtn did their thing by running the Tues rides last summer for Newbies.

    What more do you want?

As a contributor to the Ulysses funds and a net contributor to government funds (lots of tax and minimal ($1042 kiwisaver) financial benefits) I also object to others telling me how to spend my money.
    Here for the ride.

While Ulysses may have no obligation to contribute any more than they already do to safety intiatives I imagine the positive spin from being seen to be investing back into the motorcycling community would do motorcycling's credibility no end of good.
