Uh right, I should have gone in depth a little more,
If you know an engineer it may help, basicly they cut the end off the can, rip the baffle out of the inside, and re weld. More or less in that fashion. I personally have never done it, so im not sure.

Would it help if I plasma cut the whole bigger? just dont want to cut the whole baffle out yet. As I dont really want to pay an engineer to weld it back up if Im going to try find a yz250f one.

You need to run a whole new tube down the middle which you can buy from any muffler shop and you will need to weld it to the end cap. You wrap that tube in muffler packing and slide it back into the can. Easy.

Or i would skip all the hassle and keep an eye on a pipe of a standard YZF250 from the same or similar year.

Or buy a new one http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/P...ip-on-silencer

    This is what I did,

    stock pipe

    removed end cap

    Pipe removed

made a new pipe and plate

can still use sparkarrester, if need be.

    new pipe fitted

looking good if i do say so myself, looks like stock.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

My boss did the same to his but your pipe and his pipe are the same but different to mine. Mines pictured on the first page.

As some have said be careful with your noise levels. My club has been warning us for a while that they intend to start measuring dbl's. I think the limmit is 19? (Could be wrong on that number). Also your bike never sounds the same when riding. I used to think my YZ250F never sounded like the other bikes in a race, however my mates all swear it sounds excactly the same.

if you free up your standard pipe then yes you will, maybe save up for a slip on and a jet kit, like a JD or dynojet, i would advise against a mx cos the cheap ones could be as loud as 104db, maybe something that comes with a "quiet insert" you really need to be down around 94-98 db

Got the exhaust on my DRZ/KLX400 measured by my mate today. It was around 100db at idle with a peakof 114db at around 4K. That is bloody loud.

Now I personally like loud pipes (I put a R1 pipe on my KLR650 & it sounded awesome) however this one is too loud for me. My bike came with the pipe but now I want to change it & the jetting back to stock as I was only getting 100K out of a tank of gas.
I guess what i'm saying is borrow or try a pipe on it befre you commit to it.
