Gadget power - anyone using this stuff?

Retrofitting power adaptors for the cellie and other gadgets we take on board gets to be a bit of a pain, especially when it comes to waterproofing etc - this gear looks to be the bee's knees -

Currently I've just got 12v accessory sockets on my bikes (1 standard on the Connie) but wouldn't mind a usb socket for my phone & GoPro. I might just see if I can get something that plugs into the 12v socket and then run it into my glovebox/tankbag where I can put the USB device to charge.

i made a relay circuit which can power 6 accessories! mointed in a plastic box under the cowl cover. cost me 30 bucks for the parts. or i could have bought one made up for around 100. it was way more satisfying to make it myself.

Brilliant - thanks for that - I also sourced a relay with integral fuse which makes the job even simpler. There's a case to be made for having a second NiCad or MiH battery unit for suppliing the gadgets - the main battery on my DR ain't that big and it's a pest if it is flattened out in the whops.

My main concern was suitble sockets for use out in the weather - glad to see that we've got some local suppliers - I'll go there first.

go to supercheap auto and get one. It fits flush into your accessory socket, and provides you with a USB. I just put one on my bike,works a treat

Yeah, I've seen them - not to sure how they'd like the rain though. I'm thinking of running a wire into my tankbag (DL) or glovebox (Connie) and then plugging in there where it's all nice and dry.

....I wire all my bikes with SAE leads from either the battery or relay and just ziptie them to my handlebar. They're completely weatherproof and safe from shorting, and the best thing is that you can buy extra SAE plugs anywhere. The other day I was running a heated jacket hooked straight onto an SAE plug

I also run an extension lead from the SAE plug either into my tankbag where I have my radar detector and mobile phone. I have a 12V socket and another SAE connector there for running virtually anything extra I want.
