I need a shoulder to cry on...

My beloved C50T has gone! Many may know I've had to sell it as I'm banned from riding bikes again due to breaking my back last year and not having a great prognosis for the long term. In short, I've been told in no-uncertain terms that if I want to be walking in ten years, I have to be very careful to protect the two dodgy vertebrae I have left for movement.

That means no lifting, jogging, running, tennis, badminton, vacuuming, mopping, bending, twisting, or pretty much anything that could place undue strain on my L4/5 vertebrae which I damaged back in '82 on jackhammers... The five vertebrae above those are now tied together with titanium rods, screws and brackets...

Oh, and it also means no motorcycling...

So my pride and joy has been up for sale for a while now and I've had a lot of interest lately since dropping the price. I've had two come and look at it over the last few days, the first guy, I think was hoping for a bargain and he nearly got one as he said he was definitely interested and wanted me to email him a firm price for the bike and all our gear including the helmets.

As Mrs. Bear and I were discussing the offer the phone rang and it was another guy frmo Whangarei who'd expressed interest and asked if he could come down on Sat. morning to see it. When I told him about the first guy, he said that as long as the bike was as I described it he would buy it for my asking price! Naturally, when I emailed the first guy, I told him that if he could better the price by only $100, (as he also wanted my wife's gear which was mint, so he'd still be getting a good deal), he could have it. He declined. I think he was expecting to get everything for just over the $8k.

So Sat. morning Nigel arrives with his two teenage daughters and as soon as he laid eyes on the bike, I knew it was gone!

His daughters, loved it too, so it was a certainty. NOw I have to get it WoF'd, and registered for him, which he'll pay for and he'll pick it up next weekend. A good mate of mine will ride it out to Classic_Z's for the WoF. So I've got one more week to see it parked in my garage and then it will be gone... To say I'm gutted is an understatement and I'll miss it and biking terribly! Still, I do have the comfort of knowing it's gone to a guy same age as me who will look after it and appreciate it as much as I have.

Oh that is actually a sad thing to read, but as you say, it had to be.

Interesting you broke your back in a cage though

You now have the best of both worlds, a safe environment for your back AND you get to live nefariously through your biker friends

And not just any cage, a flaming great solid van, noted for it's strength in a crash!

Once a biker, always a biker, and all my biking friends are always welcome here to commiserate with me...

Oh, and Mrs. Bear has lovely shoulders to "cry" on...

Bloody hell Ed, very sad indeed There are many more things you can do that are fun though, I'm on my arse at the moment and am being positive, take up smoking, read random rubbish that'll never help you etc. Buy a Jaguar so you can be awesome and comfy (cleaning up the oil stains in the garage will be a good work out too)
I hope you don't go mad without the bike mate. I'm not a cruiser person and I thought your C50T was a fine lookin' machine.

I have to say that after a month with the new Suzuki Kizashi Ltd. it sure makes things easier to accept. The base GSX model won the overall supreme car of the year award and also topped its class against the top line models from the competitors and we've got the Ltd. for which I'm running out of superlatives! Goes like a V6, drinks like a small four, rides and handles like an exotic and has more fruit than Euro's up to four times the price! Oh, and it looks fabulous in the Prussian Blue being unique as the only one in this colour in NZ.

I'm sure I'll survive somehow, but it's going to take the rest of my life to get over biking...

That's a nice positive note! They sure seem to be a decent car, especially for the money

Took me six weeks of very interesting and in-depth research to choose it and then I nearly got the Hyundai i45 which is a close second. It's not often one buys something and then finds out that you did get the best! Usually you buy something and then everyone tells you it was the wrong choice and you could have got better/cheaper somewhere else...
