Who has or does own an FZ6?

I bought one. An 06 model for $4900. With 28k on the clock.

And I promptly lost the red key. Sigh. I'm getting that sorted though..

I want to know if anyone has had any troubles with theirs ? Parts chernobyling or things catching fire etc...

Issues I have picked up on so far is the seat is FAR TOO FUCKING HARD. And the mirrors suck. That's it though.

Nice score. Yea losing the red key isn't the end of the world (but you need to go to a dealer to get a new one I think).

    Pics!

It didn't have any black keys with it and I didn't think to get any cut. The red one is the master key that you use to synchronize the new black ones to the ecu and immobiliser.

For that reason it is at work with the headlight, seat and tank off. To get a new red key that works, I have 2 options. 1- buy new ecu, transponder aerial, ignition barrel and locks. The local yamahahaha dealer was very quick to tell me, "yep, it'll be about 2 grand maaaaaate". OR (and the one I prefer) 2- send ecu, ignition barrel and transponder aerial to company in England who resets the computer and makes new red and black key to suit the barrel. Sigh.

Will get pics when I put it back together...

The new FZ6R looks like a freakin' cool LAMS bike option. 212kg wet though. If I won lotto that's probably what I'd get til my full. (Gotta buy lotto tickets for that, stupid...)

Didn't even know there was a LAMS version ha. I think the 06 model has 80 odd hp ? Enough to accidentally pop a wheelie in 1st anyway ha.

Saw on a forum a dude whacked an r6 motor in, as they use nearly identical mounting points and casings etc.

They're good bikes. I'd have bought one if they could be found [though I'd prefer a FZ8 or FZ1 myself, as these are more torquey and sedate compared to the peaky FZ6] and as Haydes55 said, good score for that year, price and mileage.
