New cycleway opened!

Bugger me before breakfast, theres a new cycleway opened today between Taumaranui and New Plymouth! Bloody quick work you may say to yourself, but ah, no, it wasnt. Turns out its actually a road, the so-called Forgotten Highway. Wait on, wasnt JK going to get 6000 new jobs involved??? No, lets can that idea and encourage the Wobblers to clog up another New Zealand back-road, three abreast, at 15 kms/hr, and then blame the legitimate road users when some of them get mown down!!! Fuck off, stay home in your gay lycra budgie smugglers!

There are big signs at the Stratford end of "The Forgotten World Highway" that say,
THIS IS NOT A RACETRACK!

Where do they get these silly ideas?

We had a chat with a Canadian cyclist on one run out to Whangamomona earlier this year. He had spent five weeks touring Godzone on his bike; he was an interesting guy to talk to. I'm hoping that there more than enough saddles on that road (the hilly kind) to dissuade bicycling bunnies from bothering. At least I hope so, because there are more than enough motorcyclists on the wrong side of the road as it is.

The official cycle way route goes from Inglewood via junction road thru Tarata to the Pohukura saddle before heading thru Whanga. They had all turned off at Pohukura when we went thru at 12:30 ish today.
