Worth taking the dirt bike to Omarama?

Am heading to Omarama soon and am wondering if it is worth taking the dirt bike down. Is road legal so can ride public roads as well but want off road stuff more then roads. Anyone been riding there? I have heard there is a lot of private land around but have no contacts. Anyone on here from Omarama want to show me the local sites? Be good to hear from you.

SHIT Loads of places, I would recommend talking to the cockys though its all privet land, unless you head north towards twizel about 1.5km out of Omarama on the left there is a turn off to shingle which is a river bed, you can go under the bridge and back east towards the lakes, iv never riden a dirt bike so I dont know, but it would be ideal if you wanted to explore.

Heaps of great Adv riding but it's big country - what's your fuel range?

    Check this out:

The Omarama Saddle track is a great loop right next to town but it's not open until Labour weekend.

A fang up the Hakataramea Track & back down through Black Forest Stn to the Benmore Dam is not very offroad but it is a damn scenic gravel blast.

    Cheers
