Get rid of those NANA knickers, and FIGHTER it!
You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends, but you cant eat your friends!
I think there are ways it could be done on TM using a third party and making a cash deposit up front but you could end up being the scamee in that case unless you're OK taking that risk.
Grow older but never grow up
I can attest to Toebug's bike being very tidy, having a yummy exhaust sound and being a REAL fighter as opposed to the I-crashed-without-insurance-and-couldn't-afford-to-put-my-bike-back-to-stock kind
In Ireland, how we deal with scammers is we "ignore" them. Works every time.
I looked at all four bikes on the site but I didn't like the colour of any of them.
The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I'm happy to buy a cheaper bike in good nick. The one that I most wanted to see was a $4,200 CB1000 Big1 but he had no number on the ad and he said NZ buyers only. I'm assuming there ain't no dealer going to sell you a bike for $4k worth having? That's what it's like here anyway.
I only wish to use the site to do the same. Arrange a deal, see if they can wait until the 1st of Oct or not and pay with cold hard cash...
It's absolutely perfect... I'll just click 'email seller'.... ...... ...... .. .. .....
I'm struggling to come up with a shortlist. I was thinking I might be able to get a mate to email but I'm not comfortable asking someone to send endless emails and finding out every bike has some achilles heel.
You wouldn't be the first!
Forget it. Enough complete idiots in New Zealand have sold their car/bike via Trade Me to some guy from China/Malaysia who wanted to pay over the odds with a wire transfer that never actually pans out that I can see why they are nervous about overseas buyers.
Arrive, go to a dealer, buy a bike. The savings you make through Trade Me will be less than you spend on your stopover. I hear Pattaya is quite nice at this time of year. Do you play croquet?
Their search engine leaves a lot to be desired but it does work with some fiddling around, put 1000 as the lowest price, 7500 as highest then sort results low to high. High to low seems to bring up all the featured bikes even ones outside your price brackets:

I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..
Hey Quatro, a large number of the adds or auctions do have contact numbers listed but I think it only shows up if you are an authenticated member. If you did manage to set up an account you will find that Trademe finds and closes then pretty quickly.
I recently had my little 250 listed and was contacted by someone offshore wanting to purchase my bike and wanted to pay be PayPal. The initial contact sounded very genuine claiming to be a local working offshore but then I get an email from paypal and this email looked exactly like what you might expect to get from PayPal with the Logo, reference numbers and even return address and headers. The dodgy bit was that the email claimed that they were withholding payment until I pay freight charges in advance by Western Union. I told him no sale unless cash on pickup and this was about when the abusive emails started and threats for a bit over a month before he gave up.
Trademe emailed me within days of me receiving that first email that an overseas user may have contacted me via my listing and that their account has been deleted.
There is way too much of this is happening and there seems to be way too many Nigerian princes with millions they need to transfer for Trademe users to be bothered dealing with anyone outside of the country. E-bay is there any way for people who do want to sell stuff off shore.
So unfortunately for you, Trademe is a no go until you get here. Hope it doesn’t put you off coming tho, you will find there are some awesome rides to be had and a great bunch of people to meet. Like some of the others had said check out MCT really crap search engine but there are bikes listed on there also there are bikes listed on this website too somewhere.
