    Question Can I own a bike with no license?

    As the title states am i able to purchase/register a bike in my name if i don't have a license(class 6)?? BTW i have a full car license. Reason being as i've found a bike i'm pretty keen on?

    Yes of course you can. May not be able to test ride it though.

    Providing you have a car license then yes, you can purchase a bike and put it in your name.

    Never had a license

    But bought heaps of bikes.

    According to the NZTA website, you just need a form of photo ID (e.g. drivers licence or passport).

    I bought my first bike before I got my class 6 licence. I couldn't get it insured until I had a licence though.

    They won't process a change of ownership without a license or NZTA number (for a business), website must be out of date.

    Presume the licence is to drive/ride a vehicle not licence to own?

    yeah you can own it, but get busted riding on the road and im not sure the consequences will be all that fun. Also insurance could be tricky beyond theft. but you could get it to pretty up the garage

    Best thing bout having a full licence is being able to test ride any bike you like, before you buy something you dont like riding
