Believe it or not mate...some old drum brakes work a treat and are as powerful as!!!

In fact...they came on too hard at times.

That brings back memories. Remember de tuning my old twin leading shoe front brake in wet weather and 4 leading shoe brakes were treated with great respect.

It's known that drum brakes can be made to stop very well I suppose it's easy/cheaper to do a disk brake set up that works just as well or better.
Fond memories of the drum on my GN dying halfway down the 'takas because I was bored and sliding it on the brake. Got really boring when that shagged out

Discs generally cool better, and are better in the wet. A drum brake full of water ain't much fun. I use a twin leading shoe setup on my RM400 vintage bike, and it stops as well as a disc...just don't have any front brakes after doing a water crossing for a while till it dries out.

Three in 180,000+km Only one crash has been reported....
