    Adjusting Honda XR200 cam chain?

Hi, I dont have a manual-what is the procedure for adjusting cam chain tension on a 2001 xr 200, or is it autoadjust? There is the rubber boot on the top left Crankcase-I assume the adjuster lies under that?

You need a longish (about 50mm) screw with a 4mm x .75 thread (from memory).

Remove the rubber boot and screw the screw down into the adjuster.

Loosen the 14mm locknut and pull up on the screw.

While holding the upwards pressure on the screw tighten the locknut.

I could be wrong but from what i know if there the same as the earlier models they are auto adjust when you loosen the 14ml nut.
If the cam chain is streched and beyond the the spring adjuster you can get a bit more life out of it by doing the 4ml rod bit down the centre but if you have to do that the chain is buggered.

I lernt that when i bought a 185 years age and went to adjust the chain and undid the big nut to find it went realy noisy.
The bike shop i bought it from did the rod trick and said it was fine untill i pointed out they have a spring adjuster.
They replaced the chain at there cost under warrenty.

Couls pay to check up on it some more as the bikes im talking about were the earlier models though but i think there the same.
winding up stucky since ages ago
