1) Struck a patch of diesel coming into Balclutha in the rain. High sided and nearly ended up under the front of a ute. (Going to '06 March Hare. Twisted ankle and sprained thumb. Broken clutch lever and windscreen.)
2) Straight off a tight left hander. Could have made it, but would have spent too much time on the wrong side of the road. Instead I chose to "view the scenery." (Going to '06 Glenorchy rally. No injuries to me or bike.)

Good point, though it is listed in detail on my my actual profile. I just changed it to show up on every post I make, which is not that many.I just went for the general region as I live 25 km's from the nearest town and this area has a identity crisis anyway, it is on the Northern Waiarapa's electrol role, but is also described by the press as being the Manawatu, and or the Southern Hawkes Bay, so take your pick

Other "ME's" I've talked to report the same thing though, they get the odd online query, but it is very rare to get riders wanting on bike sessions. (Oddly I have mentored more mentors than newbies)
I suppose I should say 8 of my 9 crashes were all in the 1st three years. The 9th one was in 2006 and is the only one I've had in the last 22 years. It was the worlds smallest high side onto a nice soft grassy traffic island.![]()
Click on the main "Forum" tab at the top of any page and there it is in the first group in the survival skills section, which is probably where it should be. I think the survival skills area would be a point of interest on the site for most newbies. Maybe it could be pushed more from the home page, other than that, I'm not sure it could be pushed further than that unless it was mentioned in a welcome to kb letter after sign up or something.
You could ask;
How many times have you crashed on trackdays?
And, more interestingly, (going back to road riding) what percentage of crashes were a result of other vehicles actions? (as opposed to your personal ambition outweighing your talent [thanks Casey Stoner]). Or maybe break it down to what percentage do you consider a result of your own actions?
Personally, 2 out of my 3 were a result of my own lack of talent!! (As of course will be the majority of Track day crashes! Score 1/1 for me there).
Once and one time too many. Will make sure that it never happens again as long as I am a rider, and that will be for much of the rest of my life. Lucky enough to still have my life so time to shape up, retrian my mind, re-learn all the basic skills and continue to learn with training along the way so that I never let this happen again.
No cars or other people incolved in my crash. Just me verses the road. It couldn't have been more wrong and should never have happened. Still, it's in my control to make sure it doesnt ever again. Can't risk coming off eaither way, and one knock and that could be me done and dusted. Have already booked in for my first training session later this year. One I have done 3 times before but need to go back and do again. Cant wait.
I have been riding bikes for over thirty years and I get as big a kick out of it now as I ever did. I have come off and been knocked off many times. The simple fact is that if you clock up enough years and enough ks then there is a very good chance that at some stage the odds will catch up with you. While every rider should do all they can to aquire and maintain skills, and to ride within that skill level. The fact is bike riding is excitment and risk. If you can't accept the risk you should not be riding a bike.
Nothing major yet, dumped my bike and myself under it at work, was wearing shorts and caught one of my work boots on my left hand peg, shat myself, went over with the bike
Second was a very close call a few weeks ago coming down the Whareratas just out of Gisborne, coming into a 55 downhill left hander, doing about 90, decided to drop a cog, blipped throttle, bike missed, dumped clutch, back end locked up as i was starting to lean, luckily never binned it, scary experience nonetheless.
Not as many as Katman it would seem.
In over 30 years of riding only one time I was put in hospital-f'kn f'kn cagesMoral-don't be dressed up in brightly coloured full kit in a 50 k zone coz yuz is a targit.
My first 5 crashes were 19+ years ago when "I was young dumb and full of cum"!I have been riding again for 3 years now (16 year break) and I have had one slide 2 1\2 years ago due to inattention. I have learnt now what my riding limitations are and only ride within them. I ride in all weather conditions apart from snow.
