    Twice,

    Rode up the back end of a car at 50km, came round the corner and got blinded by the sun for a moment, and apparently the car infront of me had stopped to turn..

    Second was a low slide around a round about.. Cold tyres + man hole covers = Ohhhh shit.

    First was a SR when I'd been riding for a month. A car on the motorway decided I was following too close (probably true) and locked up all four wheels. I snatched the brake rather than squeezing it on, lost the front and ended up under his car.

    Second was doing a U-Turn in the dark and failed to see the pot-hole in the middle of the road.

    Third was a patch of diesel on a wet road around lake Taupo.

    Latest was a reverse SMIDSY. As in I thought I had visibility over some parked cars, but obviously didn't and pulled out in front of a car that wasn't there We both stopped in time, but my foot slipped and I couldn't catch it and basically dropped it on it's side
    What part of for(int i=0xC02;putchar((i&7)+69)&&(i>>=3); ); don't you understand?

    I read the book once a year during xmas holidays when I have time. You get to the point where you're actually repeating lines to yourself as you approach corners etc.

    It's has probably saved my life many times as it teaches you how not to ride a clown, and tells you what to do when the rear starts drifting out on you etc etc etc.

    3 times -
    1st in 1983 - Yamaha TS650, low side at 50kmh. Ripped jeans dinged tank bruised pride. - lesson was, watch out for gravel at intersections when cutting corners
    2nd in 1987 - CB900, just started moving at the lights in Greenlane and a student went through a redlight and hit my front wheel cleaning me up as well. No damage to me, bike broken cosmetically. Lesson - students are cunts
    3rd April this year - 2007 Speed Triple. Lowside at 85-90kmh, change in seal. Bruises and bumps I am still finding - bike a write off. Lesson - take time to smell the roses/slow down and enjoy the ride.

    1 lowside.
    1 epic slapper.
    1 fall off the back.

    I'm trying everything on for size.

    A mate of mine - in a drunken conversation with someone who claimed to have been riding for 40 years and had never fallen off - said "If you haven't dropped a bike you aren't riding it properly ..."
    "So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."
