Yes, I have one. It also a 1992 model. I paid $14,000 for it 3 years ago with 92,000 km on the clock. But the current value is probably around $8,000.

I have seen then advertised from $6,000 to $11,000 depending on condition and mileage. I have had a good run, but the gear box needed an overhaul at 120,000 km, apparently a known fault with this model.
    Time to ride

No big horror stories about Teranno's,but they are just based on a pick up,not a purpose built 4X4.The TD27 is the best small diesel to come out of Japan I reckon,it's a real diesel, not some car motor - cast iron head, push rod with no stupid cambelt to break or replace, hard to kill...but not impossible.

Change the oil every 5000km,change the oil every 5000km,change the oil every 5000km and it will go forever.

I had a 1993 Widebody 2.7TD. Biggest heap of shit i have owned.
    List of faults:
    Turbo shot,
Rear Floorpan rusts out(known fault, even a replacement part from nissan)
    transfer case shot,
    Front hubs cooked,
    Head blow up,
    Alternater fucked (another known fault)
    Cost = $8000
    Repairs totaling $3000

Saying all this though, i recokn I got a lemon. All the others I have seen are much better, even drove another the other day, 1998 with 88000km on the clock. Would actually consider buying another, just get it checked out first.
The real mystery is how come that fat bastard Hurley has never lost any weight.

Oh yes - buy a diesel 4X4 and expect to pay huge repair bills.....but you are buying this for serious use right? Reliability comes at a cost.

Is there any thruth to the rumour that new 4WD;s will have wipers on the side windows?

To clear the spit from other road users.

I drive a 4x4, hardly ever sees mud and my house is off a small side street. Why, because I fucking can. If I do want to take it off road, no problem, otherwise its briliant for visibility, rides on a cushion of air and the heated leather seats keep my ass warm on these cold winter mornings. Oh yeah, the wife uses it on weekends to go shopping and visiting. Oh I love living in a free country.

How did you manage to blow up a cast iron pushrod diesel head ?

Gotta get em reeeeaaaal hot, then the heads crack.I've got a good TD27 lying around here with a stuffed piston after a water pump failure and a big cook up coming up the Sth Wstn to Hilsborough.I was hoping to get a dead Nissan and not a dead Mitsubishi to rebuild.

One big money item for the TD27 is the water pump - it comes complete with pulley and viscous hub, they used to retail for over $500,but now are around $300,still not cheap for a water pump.

So,the dead diesels lying around on my floor are....

Nissan TD27T,complete,but knackered piston, could be reconed for a good price.

Mitsubishi 4D56,totaly blown, with a rod wedged into the block.

Nissan RD28 from a Laurel, just worn out,but pistons are expensive,so cheaper to go 2nd hand.

Ford Escort,1600cc,destroyed injector pump from water contamination. This was out of my 1987 Van...I fitted a 1600 crossflow into it,race cam,V6 geared choke Weber, extractors - I spent 4 yrs trying to get it to run right, the cam was so lumpy it had 8''Hg at 800rpm,10 @1000,so I settled for 12''Hg at 1200rpm.I had a lot of fun sorting this conversion, and it was the best handling front wheel drive car I've ever driven,it was a real sleeper and I would cruise it at 90mph...Pommie speedo.

Talent. headgasket went. Still got the head in the garage. Some of the cracks you can get a feeler gauge in. Funny thing is. It was actually still running!!

Quite a few of the terrano diesels have overheating trouble, both the turbo and non turbo. As long as you keep an eye on it, you will be hard pressed to kill it. Check the rear seatbelt mounts, make sure they havent had a dodgy fix up as no repairs are allowed to that area (unless you have documentation that it was done many many years back), they now expect you to get a new floor from Nissan. Mine set me back some 6,500 in rust repairs, just as well it was a business expense!
Alternators are $800 give or take, has a brake booster mounted on the back of it to make it extra costly.
Engines are good, better than the toyotas. Good trucks really.
