    Michelin Pilot Sporty Review

I'm currently riding a '09 EX250J - one of the new looking 250 ninjas. I'm not a pro-rider, but I'm not a learner either. I've done over 80,000k's on this bike and around 20,000 on the ZX9R I had prior to this bike. This is the 5th bike I've owned since joining the forum.

    Michelin Pilot Sporty
Not to be mistaken with the Pilot sports

These tires are cheap. Real Cheap ... and nasty too. They're not that good value for money when you consider how long they last. If you buy a set of these, you'll spend the first half of the tires life wondering if they're taking awhile to scrub in, only to find it's time to replace them.

The first thing I noticed was how long these tires to take get warm. Secondly I couldn't seem to push them like I could on the Kendra 671's (which are also a reasonably cheap tire), the Michelin Activ's or any other tire I've had in the past . The rear tire on the Pilot Sporty has been all over the place and has never felt that stable when the bikes banked over. Initially I thought they just weren't scrubbed in yet, which I continued to think, even after riding to work for 2 weeks (1500km's) on them.

The tire life has been the poorest I've ever used. The Pirelli Diablo's I had on my ZX9R lasted longer than these things. After only 7,000k's of use, it's time to say goodbye to the Michelin Pilot Sporty's and I'll most likely be onto Michelin Pilot Activ's or Road 2's.

I'd never consider buying a sporty again. I feel lucky I haven't crashed whilst having these on.
I wave to every biker I see.

Wish I's seen your review earlier

Wish I had read you review before buying the Sporty. I only google searched and found a Very flattering review of it. I'm an idiot for not searching KB first
