I thought that quote was from Kevin Costner in the movie "Feild of Dreams" I didn't realise Charlton Heston also said it?

Cheers Paul, You have raised a very valid point and it needed raising, Photo stops on a ride. too often, rides are "destination" focused even if its just to the next intersection. I did say it was a scenic ride yet as the leader I kept going to the next planned stop so I will put my hand up and say I was guilty of not considering photos. Everyone has their own ideas on what constitutes a good photo for them so this needs to be managed somehow in a ride like this when someone suddenly is missing from the group you don't automatically assume they have had a close encounter of the worst kind with the surface of the planet or some immovable object that is on it.

Thought I would add some photos my bad mate TINA RAY took of our ride.

    1. Three of the lads resting after a gusty ride, at Smedley Stn.
Bruce and Paul from Windy Welly, and myself. Big RED Pete's XR in the background.
Now where is the White Knight, Ross ?.. and Tony W ..?

    2. Ah, theres' Ross chatting to the Manager, arranging our next visit.

    3. We wondered what caused the puncture !

    4. ''XR Johnny'' doing what I do EVERY ride.

    5. This is what you do with your bike when removing the wheel.

I've been very fortunate to have never had a flat tire on a motorcycle. I know my turn will come some day I carry a spare rear tube and tyre levers but no pump At least with the K60 rear the side walls are so stiff you could probably keep riding to a gas station...I hope

    Hey Nite Falcon,
Don`t ASSUME you will be doing any riding with no air in your rear tyre. If you want any tips on tyre changing/repairs, catch up with me next ride.
    Hard Man Gerrard,
Call me a slow learner, but i have been changing my motorcycle tyres for 36yrs . . . . & You see me the 1st time i wear " SUPREME QUALITY POWDER FREE NITRILE GLOVES" that are sold worldwide to stringent Hygiene Standards. At least they are called 'Armour Black' & are Xtra Large in size.

Johnny I am just jealous. I use cotton gloves in the garage when I am out there working. As for the hard man pretty spongy in the middle.
Here's a pic of the shoulder nearly 4 weeks after I thought they would reset it but apparently not go figure. But I have been assured that its going to be all good by months end so should be riding again for christmas. Just enough time to make a couple of small repairs to the bike and back into it. See you out there soon.

Picked up a spare set of tubes for mine today from the local Suzy shop, They are Pirelli heavy duty and they aint kidding about the heavy bit, jeez. Im still looking around for a small, bike friendly electric pump.

Pushbike pump will get enough air in to get you home.

I have been using a lightweight double action bicycle pump. If you have good wrist action it is way easy to get tyre up to 22psi.
Ross , you are right, heavy duty tubes are Far Too Heavy to carry as a spare! Also a nail will go through a H/D one just the same as it will a STD tube .

I carry 1 19" LW tube for a spare stretch it for the 21" front and it will fit in your 18" rear.
As for a small pump you buy a cheappy from super cheap and pull it to bits and throw away all the plastic there is not much left.
You may have cover up the gear with a little tin cover.

Yeah, I take on board the suggestion about the double acting hand pump, the only power you need is in your own muscles and when your stranded on the side of the road, especially if you are out of the cell phone area then time is not an issue.
I still like the little electric pump that Harley Davidson are marketing though, may still see what they are worth here.
