The Kiwi is on again this year, Fri 30th Aug to Sun 1st Sep. Usual place between Waiberia and Kune. Im very keen to go this year and was wondering if anyone else is interested and if so, what about sorting out a more "Scenic Route" from the Bay to Waiouru.
Not sure if the tickets are available just yet. Just google cold kiwi anyway.

Harden up. I can remember when it used to be at 6 cross camp on the summit of the Dessert Road.
I can assure you its a lot warmer where it is now, even if its snowing. I wonder what a room is worth in Waiouru

Yeah did that site on my first one and big snow also. Don't worry about a room in Waiouru, support vehicles are allowed now, there was a field the size of paknsave the other year full of emmmm. I bunged my gear in friends car for homeward bound leg lol People have their own couches and bbqs now, getting bit fancy, then there's the trailer motox 24hr endures lol...
My mate says I pack too much... I'd rather be warm than "Cool" lol

Looks a bit white up on the plateau! Up a pylon trail near Ngamatea station.
DR650 worked well as snow plow especially through hidden trenches! Bugger all snow on Napier side, nothing significant till Ngamatea area.
View from Comet hut track is amazing will have to include on a HB rideout sometime...

Awesome pic Raymond
Bet it was a bit chilly.
The only good thing about winter is a hot wood fire & getting into that snow. Love snapping on the skis & having a day on the mountain.
Had some fun in my teen years riding the XL175 in the snow:
