spoke to AFC motorcycles today about the extent of damage and estimated cost to repair the 690 and lets say I'm not holding my breath there is enough $$$ in the insurance to restore it to her former glory. Will be a real shame if it gets written off but rather it than me I spose. Body is feeling better today but ribs still no fun. Will see bout physio next week as I want to see if I can get my left arm moving as soon as possible - Ive had a frozen shoulder before and don't want another one. Been trying real hard to remember anything about the crash but looks like its been totally erased - that sheep gave me and the 690 a good lambing

I was thinking about you this afternoon Marty. Came back from the farm with half a mutton in my panier bags. Mine had the skin off though.

    Interesting thought

Would there have been less carnage on a muscular solid klr than on an anorexic pimpmobile 690?

not that I really want to ever find out

LOL The sheep jokes/references keep coming. I can't help having a grin.

    Might be time to change that avatar pic Marty to a . . . . . you guess it . . . . . a woolly jumper

When I had a bit of a sheep incident a while back the awesomeness of KTM suspension actually enabled me to ride over a fairly sizeable lamb. Unfortunately the little bastard's mum was right behind it & the 640 didn't quite have the reserves of awesome to deal with that as well It was however fixed up to ride another day, unlike both the sheep. Best of luck with the ribs & the bike Marty.

    Cheers
    Clint

Thanks Clint. I'm just sooooo frustrated at not being able to recall how it happened but as it happens I think the 690 didn't stand much of a chance as I have concluded the woolly offender took out the front wheel as I was leaning into a gradual left hander at probably 100-110 kph slamming the left side of the bike into the deck which explains why most of my left side is so broken. Then the bike has slid 25-30m with larry the lambro wedged between the front tire and the exhaust header, finally catching on something and flipping us all into the air and landing a further 15-20m up the road with me under the bike which is how I was found.

    Some broken bits

Glad you are getting better Marty.

I hit a sheep in Awakino Gorge a while ago. I was lucky as it just missed taking out my front wheel but the sheep certainly got hit hard by the fairing / gas tank.

Don't ya know it But Alas the go pro is now a no go pro. It took the full brunt of the impact with the road so is a tad banged up. The SD card is missing from it as is most of the plastic housing, know one can tell me if the SD card was removed during or post crash.....maybe the old bill have it and are watching footage of the Welly lads riding through fog up whatever road we were exploring earlier in the day....hopefully there wasn't any wheel standing or other incriminating evidence on it (actually I think there was ) anyway it's prolly more interesting viewing for the secrete service than the stuff they got from kimdotcoms place. I mean really who wants to look at rooms full of computers when you could be watching Steve flogging the supertanker up a rutted track......how are those ribs of yours anywho Stevo?

Cheers Mike. There has been some discussion already that a more weightier bike might have saved the day, maybe I should have kept the 990 after all.......but glad you managed to avoid a crash...I can tell you it's no fun

So you are saying that because someone let their pet sheep out on the road, we are now all on some NSA server somewhere?

I can neither confirm nor deny that assertion but if your from Wellington its highly likely you're already on someone's server
